One of the most recent CFIRE reports issued in a draft format for review details the 2008 21st Century Workforce Summit that we hosted in December. Freight Transportation Index Points to Uncertain Future for American Goods Movement

The closely-watched Cass Freight Index fell a record 25 percent in April. What does it mean for us?

First, the Cass Index (http://www.cassinfo.com/frtindex.html) tells us that freight spending is dropping -- dramatically. Such a steep decline will mean that manufacturing outputs will tailspin. If goods are not moving in, they are not going to be moving out either.
